Presidential Candidate for 2008
The most important decision that many people will have to make in 2008 is to choose the new President of the United States, and that decision will affect Americans directly for the next four years and indirectly for many years to come. Many controversies and well known candidates function at the heart of this election.
While Hilary Clinton has experience in the presidential position due to her husbandÆs presidency in 1993-2000, and John Edwards speaks out as the voice of the common man, the best candidate for the presidential position is Barack Obama. Obama is not a fresh face on the United States political scene. Obama has been a senator for the state of Illinois. He is familiar with the ways of the government and he hopes to revolutionize the government with the consent of the people.
Obama represents many of the positions that I believe will help to improve this country. Obama has plans for the improvement of the American economy; he can lead the United States to a more stable economy in 2009. Obama is conscious of environmental issues and hopes to lessen AmericaÆs dependence on foreign oil. In the United States Senate, he has been active in pushing for a widespread energy policy for the nation. He has brought forth a number of bills to get America closer to the goal of energy independence. He has been against the war in Iraq from the beginning, and now he has a plan to end the war in Iraq and help America to move forward. He wants to bring the nationÆs sons and daughters home.
Since graduating college, Obama has been active in politics and the betterment of mankind. He has helped to stop genocides in foreign nations and to stop the spread of nuclear weapons. He has lobbied to get nationwide healthcare because ôevery American has the right to affordable healthcareö (www.barackobama.com). He has spoken out for veterans, the underprivileged, and senior citizens nationwide.
Obama is a family man, and therefore, I believe he will protect the interests of children and families nationwide in both education and healthcare issues. After all, the best person to trust the interest of the nationÆs rising generation is someone with children of his own. Obama can empathize with the plight of parents nationwide because he is a parent. He knows how hard raising a family is, and one of his main missions is to make it easier for parents in the nation.
He attends church at the Trinity United Church of Christ and is deeply involved with his born again Christian faith. In a speech to an evangelical audience in June 2006, Obama spoke of the role faith needs to play in American society. Obama states that faith is important against the battle against AIDS globally. He states that people should ôtranslate their concerns into universal rather than religion-specific valuesö (www.barackobama.com).
Barack Obama is the best presidential candidate for the election in 2008. He can lead America to be a better nation during his four year term. He is willing to meet the people on common ground and achieve success with the peopleÆs help. Barack Obama is the voice of the common man. He wants the people to be heard. Let Obama improve the nation in 2009.
