Ready to Vote

When you turn 18, will you be ready to vote?

Abortion has been one of the most important topics in the last two elections.  Now in 2008, abortion is once again one of the main topics in the American people’s eyes.  Some voters believe the mother should have the choice of whether or not to have the baby, while others believe the baby should be allowed to live no matter what the mother thinks.  I am pro-life and believe that abortion should be illegal in each and every state.

“No woman, child or otherwise, should be forced to carry a child,” is an argument that pro-choice people hold on abortion (http://www.allaboutpopularissues.org/pro-choice-abortion.htm).  I am against this argument because a person that makes the choice to have sex should be forced to carry the baby.  A tiny, precious gift from God should not be killed because a woman had sex.  There are many other alternatives that the mother can choose if she does not want to raise a baby.  She could let the grand-parents take care of the baby or put the baby up for adoption.  Abortion is not the last or only resort.

"God is the only one who knows how many children we should have, and we should be ready to accept them. One can't decide for oneself who comes into this world and who doesn't,” is a quote by Mel Gibson and is also the quote that is closest to the way I feel (http://www.lovematters.com/melgibson.htm).  God wanted the mother to have a baby for a reason and the mother should accept this and not take the baby’s life.  It is a life the baby deserves and a life the baby should be able to keep.  Someone in this world will love the child even if the mom does not.  God will love the baby but it is hard to love something that has no chance of life.

As the election nears, abortion will continue to be brought up as frequently as any other topic.  Some candidates are pro-choice and others are pro-life and will stand strongly by their beliefs.  As a Christian and man of God, I do not believe that a candidate who believes in pro-choice should gain a vote.  God should decide which babies live and die, not the mother.
